A study on the stress of 5-year-old children according to variables of early child educational institution

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to investigate variables of early child educational institution affecting stress of children attending child-care center and kindergarten. The subjects of this study were 730 5-year-old children. Data were analyzed by t-test and ANOVA using SPSS WIN 12.0 program. The results of this study were as follows : 1)The results showed that types of early child educational institution were significantly related to categories of stress of 5-year-old children. The much stress were found in day care center to kindergarten. 2)The results showed that extracurricular activities and outdoor play time were significantly related to categories of stress of 5-year-old children. The more extracurricular activities and the less outdoor play time early child educational institution implemented, the more stress of 5-year-old children were found. 3)The results showed that time of adminstration, length of education period were significantly related to categories of stress of 5-year-old children. The more daily staying time, the more stress of 5-year-old children were found. From 2 years of period of attendance, stress of 5-year-old children began to increase. Lastly results are discussed and suggestion made for further studies.
